Objective: To investigate the status quo and influencing factors of college students' ability to distinguish internet rumors about public health emergencies, and to lay a theoretical foundation for related research in the future. Method: A stratified cluster random sampling method was adopted to conduct a questionnaire survey on 1192 college students in a vocational college in Anhui Province, using a general information questionnaire, the Questionnaire for Evaluating Internet Rumors Verification Ability in Public Health Emergencies, a Chinese version of critical thinking disposition inventory(CTDI-CV), and online social support scale. Results: The score of the Questionnaire for Evaluating Internet Rumors Verification Ability in Public Health Emergencies is 64.12 ± 7.64, their critical thinking disposition inventory score is 263.75 ± 24.47, and their online social support score is 63.22 ± 113.22; Professionalism, average daily internet usage time, online access to information platforms, types of information that students pay attention to in daily life, critical thinking ability, and online social support are the influencing factors for college students' ability to identify online rumors in sudden public health events, accounting for 57% of the total variance. Conclusion: College students' ability to identify online rumors in public health emergencies is at a moderate level, and they need to gather multiple forces from family, school, and government to optimize the network environment, control key and difficult points, and gradually improve their ability to identify online rumors. |
